According to a news article from La Colina de Nervion, Spanish club Sevilla is rekindling their interest in Benfica’s Swiss striker Haris Seferovic.
Sevilla attempted a move for the 29-year-old during the summer transfer window but was rebuffed by Benfica, who hung onto the striker instead of cashing in after Seferovic had an outstanding Euro 2020 tournament.
The 2021 African Cup of Nations will take place between January 9 and February 6 of 2022. Sevilla will likely be without their striking pair Munir El Haddadi and Youssef En-Nesyri are expected to be called up by Morocco for the tournament leaving only Rafa Mir as a striking option for a club that aspires to win the Spanish La Liga title.
Sevilla is expected to approach Benfica when the winter transfer window opens in January and prefers to discuss a loan move for Seferovic to start, including an option to make the move permanent after the current season.
Seferovic joined Benfica on a free transfer in 2017 from Eintracht Frankfurt and has since appeared in 176 career games for the club across all competitions, scoring seventy-four goals while adding twenty-four helpers.
Do you think Benfica would entertain the possibility of letting the Swiss international leave?
